Our Fall Camps for Kids (8-9, 9-10 and 11-12 year-olds) run from 9:15 till 13:15. The Teens Camps (13-14 and 15-16 year-olds) take place in the afternoons 13:30 – 17:30. Only the target language is used as means for communication – English, German, Spanish, French or Italian.
In the Corona-year 2020, everything is different, and our Junior Language Club has adapted to the new reality with all the safety measures, for health and safety of our Kids and Teens is our top priority. At the same time, our participants’ learning success is equally important, and we know all too well that long disruptions experienced by schools and the ultimate switch to the online mode have put a dent in the learning process. Thus, this year, we have also modified our Camps – our Language School’s most popular and successful program with an over 15-year-long tradition. With our Kids’ current learning needs and objectives in mind, we have made some innovative adjustments to our concept, and here is an overview:
ONE GOAL, TWO WAYS
Two Camps are being offered parallel to each other and at the same time: our popular, top-hit Summer Camps as well as the Premium Camps. “Premium” here stands for – fewer participants, more ambitious goals, more intensive and more effective, more goal-driven and a faster way to success.
Success-Proven Concept, Current Learning Needs
For our Regular Camps, we have reduced the maximum number of participants from 12 to 8 (the minim number has remained 5), and in the case of the Premium Camps the number of participants is min. 3 – max. 4. Our facilities have already been modified to comply with all safety regulations currently in place, and so as to reduce any possible unnecessary contact even further, we will not be serving a communal lunch this year and, instead, ask the parents to send some snacks along for their kids, which they could enjoy at lunch break.
Limited number of participants: more safety and more learning success
Our main concentration remains the same: “Free Speaking, Active Listening.” However, this year, we are supplementing it with another motto: “Stay Fit for School!” That means: we are planning to make even more effort to supplement that which kids learn at school – or perhaps didn’t get to learn so well this year – with the communicative component as well as also to fill the blanks and voids. We will definitely not forget – as always – to let the kids and teens have fun and to motivate them with the help of interesting, challenging and age-relevant activities, for we know for sure that motivated learning increases the success tenfold! Yet this year, we will revert to the “classical” themes and topics more often than usual, for we want our kids to get fitter for school and stronger in their target language than they would have been even if their academic year hadn’t been hindered – and our Fall Camps weeks of fun and intensive learning, with our highly motivated, experienced native-speaking instructors will make it happen!
We offer Language Camps within our Holiday Program during Easter-, Pentecost-, Summer- and Fall school holidays in English, German as a Second / Foreign Language, Spanish and French. Our Language School remains closed during the Winter Holidays. Our regular language classes and Saturday workshops do not meet during the time of Holiday Language Camps.
